An evening to celebrate the abundance of nature in community. The evening of our dreams! A room full of curious guests, a room full of autumn air and delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen.

The idea for this evening came from a friend who had invited us to farm a piece of land together for a season. An hour’s lovely bike ride along the dyke, with the sun on our faces, and then we were there, planting little plants in the ground with our hands and sowing seeds. On our next visit, we were already amazed – just a week later, the plants had grown quite a bit and the first sprouts had emerged from the seeds. Every trip to the field gave us so much joy, made us cycle home with such a blissful feeling and, above all, with gratitude in our hearts and a great sense of wonder at what nature had grown for us.
We quickly knew that we wanted to celebrate this joy and gratitude, this special awareness of nature’s gifts. So in 2022, we will be holding our first Harvest Dinner at the Deli im Lehmweg – a very special atmosphere with lots of coziness and closeness. And so the Harvest Dinner took place for the third time this year. After that we knew: We have to do it again. And so the Harvest Dinner took place for the third time this year. We now have more space in Schlüterstraße to invite even more people to appreciate and celebrate the abundance of nature with us. All with a special 6-course menu of fruit and vegetables that can be harvested from the fields in the fall. Each walk is accompanied by a reflection question – questions to get in touch with yourself, the people around you and nature.
Our form of Thanksgiving. We are already looking forward to creating such an evening with you again next year!

During the time we were driving to the field and the idea for the Harvest Dinner was born, Janine and I were reading the book “Braided Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. In her book she writes about the honorable harvest and I would like to conclude by sharing these words with you:
Know the way of life of those who care for you so that you can care for them too.
Introduce yourself. Realize that you are the one who is asking for life.
Ask permission of the ones whose lives you seek. Abide the answer.
Never take the first. Never take the last.
Take only what you need.
Take only that which is given to you.
Never take more than half. Leave something for the others.
Harvest in a way that minimizes harm.
Take only what you need and leave some for others.
Share it, as the Earth has shared with you.
Be grateful.
Reprociate the gift.
Sustain the ones who sustain you, and the Earth will last forever.
